Introduction

  

Over the course of this MAET Summer program we have found out that misconceptions can have noticeable impact on student learning.  In the case of our topic, lightning, it could actually be hazardous to your health. 

After much discussion our group decided to look more into the misconceptions surrounding lightning.  Most people believe that they have a basic understanding of lightning.  Being such a common place occurrence,  that seems like a safe assumption. This led us to further investigate how the average person describes, illustrates and explains this atmospheric event.
